Chitala chitala is a knifefish from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan, where found in the Indus, Ganges-Brahmaputra and Mahanadi River basins. It is sometimes known as the Indian feather back. It is overall silvery in color. Unlike all its relatives, it usually has a series of golden or silvery bars along the back, resulting in a faint striped appearance. Raw Chital contain: Energy 90 Kcals, Protein 18.1 g, Fat 1.9 g, Retinol - Vitamin A 55 mcg, Thiaminm0.04 mg, Riboflavin 0.07 mg, Tryptophan 3.4 mg, Sodium 34 mg, Potassium 120 mg, Calcium 110 mg, Phosphorus 210 mg, Iron 2.10 mg and Copper 0.17 mg. The item is dressed, cleaned and then cut into medium sizes (approx. 6-8 pieces in 500 gm. packet). The item is ready to fry. It can be used to prepare fish curry and other various delicious dishes.
