Colocasia (Guri Kochu) is also known as Taro Root. It is a starchy, fleshy underground root, filled with numerous nutrients. It is oval or globular in shape with a hairy coating on its skin and a whitish yellow flesh. It possesses complex carbohydrates like amylopectin and amylase that contribute to slow digestion and regulates blood glucose levels. Regular consumption of colocasia promotes good digestion, prevents constipation and regulates hypertension. It has been found to be especially beneficial in treating cancers of lungs and oral cavity.
